Congratulations to our 2023 Scholarship Recipients

The purpose of the scholarships is to recognize undergraduate and graduate students, who are committed to pursuing careers in human resources and have shown strong academic ability and early engagement and accomplishments in human resources related areas. We had an incredible level of participation this year. Two scholarships will be awarded: a $1,500 undergraduate winner and a $1,500 graduate winner. The Scholarships will be presented to the following students at the HRPOY Awards event on May 18th.

EMILY KELLEHER: Undergraduate Recipient from Temple University

Emily Kelleher is a senior Human Resource Management major with a Legal Studies for HRM minor at Temple University. She is originally from Forest City, PA, and now reside in Philadelphia. Emily currently work as an Emerging Leader Intern for The O’Connor Group and an HR Intern for Temple University’s College of Science and Technology Professional Development.

Emily is extremely involved with Temple’s Student Chapter of SHRM as she holds the position of Director of Corporate Relations. She works directly with the Chapter President to plan weekly speaker meetings with various HR-related topics and organize an HR Profession Fair. Emily is super excited to join Playfly Sports this summer as a Human Resources Intern where she will gain more experience.

REGINA CAREY, SHRM-CP: Graduate Recipient from DeSales University

Regina Carey is a Master of Business Administration student at DeSales University, with a concentration in Human Resources Management. She is from Carneys Point, New Jersey, and is a Human Resources Coordinator at Lincoln Investment Planning, LLC, in Fort Washington, PA. Regina has been with the company since 2021, starting as an intern and eventually taking on a full-time role. Regina is a second time recipient of HRPOY Scholarship, attending the award ceremony in 2021 to accept her Undergraduate scholarship. Since then, she has come far in the world of HR.

Regina earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management and Finance from Immaculata University. Her first HR internship at Chick-fil-A during her freshman year of college introduced her to the world of HR, where she gained essential skills in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training. She later moved on to intern at Lincoln Investment, where she enhanced her experience in various areas of HR such as employee relations, benefits administration, and training. After accepting a full-time role at Lincoln Investment, Regina was able to delve deeper into all areas of human resources and become a valuable member of the team. Her extensive knowledge of HR provided her the opportunity to take and pass the SHRM-CP exam in February, which was one of her professional goals for 2023. Upon completion of her MBA at DeSales University in 2024, Regina intends to specialize in training and development. With her SHRM certification, Regina aims to advance her career in human resources in the years to come!
